2009 -
REINIGUNGSGESELLSCHAFT
I’ve been working as an NYC artist of REINIGUNGSGESELLSCHAFT on a couple of projects they are planning in NYC in 2010 and 2011. A Swingspace residency with LMCC in the summer of 2009 was involved. The two principles, Martin and Henrik, took their name from the laundromat that previously occupied their old studio in Dresden and it carries a few meanings - an important one is a cleansing or cleaning company. Their practice is deeply social informed, and their work has been shown internationally.
2001-2003
A FRONT GROUP / AN ASTROTURF GROUP
A Front Group started out called An Astroturf Group and was a New York City based artistic collaborative comprised of myself, Noah Khoshbin and Richard Pasquarelli that was active from 2001-2003. Our three large scale projects explored perceptual issues central to the contemporary mental environment. Each project involved new collaborators such as graffiti mural painters, a bottling company, a video production team, and many others.
Most notable was an entire branded reality surrounding the creation of their bottled water brand PONSEF which included a fictional CEO, ad campaigns, tag lines, slogans “Desired for What it is Not”, and corporate pseudo data and false science to make claims for expanding market share. Ponsef was named in the popular two syllable style of pharmaceutical drugs such as Prozac, Zoloft, etc.
