Drawings

Graphite stick on paper (s).

“I think one does think with ones hands...its as if there is a different brain that is controlling how that works..” - William Kenridge

I approach drawing as a marker of consciousness and a medium of thought. The drawings largely center on considerations of mental life, and often they explore paradigm shifts in psychologically inflected intellectual realities, or schema.

The drawings are made through alternately additive and subtractive processes – during the making of a  drawing I often alternately cut off sections of the paper with a knife in a similar working manner to marking with the graphite stick. The stripped down and taut economy of form is especially central to the drawing - and to much of my work.

I’m currently rethinking conventional framing set ups. As a result I’m starting to make my own custom frames. The first three below are recent prototypes.
